How these soups are categorized
It is officially soup season, which is basically my favourite time of year. Soup is the perfect lunch or dinner recipe to have once the weather becomes crisp and chilly. The best part about soup is that it's super versatile. There is so much more to soup than the classic chicken noodle soup we all associate with taking a sick day from school.
Soups can be creamy, packed with protein and vegetables, a delicious hearty meal and even all of the above. They're easy to make as a dump and go recipe right in one pot, an Instant Pot or a Slow Cooker. That's why I've made it easy by categorizing my favourite soups into stews, chilis, low carb options and even by cooking method.

Stews are a thicker version of a soup where the focus is on the ingredients rather than the broth. The vegetables and meat that are used in a stew are cut thicker and take up most of the space in the bowl. They're a satisfying alternative to soups for when you may be looking for a heartier meal. They're most commonly made throughout the day in a slow cooker, which tenderizes any meat and makes all the flavours combine beautifully! Take your stews to the next level by serving with your favourite rice.
If you're ready for the ultimate comfort food, then you need to cozy up with a big bowl of chili. Like stew, chili is a thicker version of a soup that is filled with hearty ingredients like beans, meat, and vegetables. You're getting a ton of protein when you indulge in a bowl of chili! Its thick consistency is perfect if you wish to repurpose any leftovers into other meals (such as nachos, tacos, with rice, etc.)
Whether you're vegetarian or practicing meatless Mondays. I've got you covered with some amazing vegetarian soup options. Vegetarian soups can still be hearty with the addition of beans and grains. Or, you can enjoy a creamy vegetarian soup by blending all your favourite vegetables together. There is so much opportunity to enjoy a delicious vegetarian soup that goes beyond a basic tomato vegetable soup.
If you're ready to have the ultimate, flavourful soup then you need to try these crockpot soup recipes! Crockpots are perfect for making recipes that quite literally make themselves! All you have to do is dump all of your ingredients, set the timer and go about your day! The perks to making a soup in the crockpot is that it is cooking for long periods of time so all of the flavours get immersed into each other. Here are some of my favourite crockpot soup recipes.
Instant Pot options
What's better than a one pot soup recipe? A soup recipe that makes itself within minutes! My Instant Pot is my go to kitchen tool for making easy, delicious recipes within minutes. Similar to crockpot recipes. you just dump your ingredients and step aside. However, unlike the slow cookers, Instant Pot makes your soups, well, instantly! They're perfect for those last minute meals.
One pot soups
The easiest recipes are the ones that include the least dishes possible! If you're looking to limit the amount of dishes to clean up, then an easy one pot recipe is the way to go. Don't get it wrong, even though these soups come together in one pot, they're still packed with rich and multidimensional flavours!
Mason jar soups
If you asked 100 people, I'm sure the majority of people would say that their least favourite dish to travel to work with is soup. The horror of knowing our lunch has leaked within our bags and electronics is enough to stay clear from commuting with a soup. However, I love mason jars because they are a great and secure way to travel with liquids. I feel confident and comfortable taking soup to go ever since I've started to store them in mason jars. Though any soup can be stored in a mason jar, here are some of my favourite mason jar soup recipes!
Low carb soups
When you're feeling under the weather or just in the mood for something flavourful and light, it's always nice warm up with a light soup. Though I love to amp up my soups to the next level with hearty vegetables and grains, I do like to indulge in a lighter, low carb soup every so often. For those days, these are my go to soups of choice.
