Why you’ll love this recipe
- Perfect for meal prep: These yogurt parfaits are easy to make ahead for quick breakfasts, snacks, or grab-and-go mornings throughout the week.
- Healthy & delicious: Packed with protein, fibre, fresh fruit, and crunchy granola, these healthy yogurt parfaits taste like dessert in a jar.
Ingredients and substitutions
- Greek yogurt – regular yogurt or dairy-free yogurt would also work but would have less protein.
- Granola – use store-bought granola or make your own.
- Mango, raspberries and blueberries – strawberries, kiwi, banana or apple would all be good. Any fruit will work, just make sure to use fresh sliced bananas the day of so they don’t brown.

How to make yogurt parfaits

Step 1: Make the granola.
I highly recommend using homemade granola, but you can use store-bought in a pinch.
Step 2: Prep your toppings.
Chop up your fruits.

Step 3: Layer your jars.
Add the yogurt, granola and fruit to a mason jar.
Step 4: Add to a bowl.
Eat right out of the jar or enjoy in a bowl.

Tips for the best yogurt parfaits
Here are some of my top tips and tricks for making the best parfaits, and some ways to change them up:
- Add a natural sweetener: Honey, maple syrup or shredded coconut would both make them sweeter.
- Make your own granola: My homemade granola is healthier and tastier than the store-bought stuff.
- Add more protein: Mix in some nut butter, chopped nuts, chia seeds or flax seeds.
- PB&J: Add strawberries, raspberries and a drizzle of peanut butter.
- Tropical: Try these with mango, pineapple and shredded coconut.
- Chocolate: Use strawberries, cocoa powder and chocolate granola.
Frequently asked questions
What type of yogurt is best for parfaits?
I like using plain Greek yogurt for my parfaits, since it’s high in protein and super healthy.
How can I prevent granola from getting soggy in my parfait?
If you’re worried about the granola getting soggy, store the granola separately from the yogurt in a ziploc bag or by using these breakfast cups with lids if you’re packing it for on-the-go.
Should I use fresh or frozen fruit?
Fresh fruit is the way to go with these parfaits. Frozen fruit will defrost and make the granola all soggy. It can work if you store the granola separately and add it fresh every morning. It will defrost in the fridge or at room temperature so you can just add and go!
Is it possible to make a vegan yogurt parfait?
Yes, by using plant-based yogurts made from almond, soy, or coconut milk and ensuring all toppings are vegan-friendly.

What is a good granola to get store bought. I’m a diabetic so low carb. So many I’ve tried is not very good and have high carbs.
Thank you!

Hi Debbie – I’m not sure of what is available at your local grocery store. I prefer to make my own so you can control the sugars: https://thegirlonbloor.com/homemade-granola-recipe/
