I'm the recipe developer behind The Girl on Bloor. In university, I struggled with mealtime, making meals on the fly without a plan or grabbing fast food. I felt unhealthy, disorganized and stressed about food so I decided to try meal prepping in an effort to eat better and save money.
I looked up meal prep recipes on Pinterest, then I would spend my whole Sunday in the kitchen making ALL the food I needed for the week at once. After spending several hours on my feet, I'd be exhausted and resentful that I missed out on fun and relaxation over the weekend.
I ended up feeling like a failure🥺 when I stopped meal prepping after just a few weeks. Here's How it Works
Audit the grocery list
Check your grocery list then go through your fridge, freezer and pantry to see what you have on hand for this week's recipes, and delete what you don't need from the list. Then you can go in and add anything else you need such as paper towels, condiments, etc.
On Sunday, use your prep ahead checklist
Over the weekend, take 1 hour to go through the auto-populated prep ahead checklist and do your ingredient prep for the week. This is going to be a real game changer when it comes to making your meals during the week. Dinner will come together in 20 minutes or less each night!

What are the recipes like?
Every recipe includes a protein, carb and vegetable(s) and can be made in 30-60 minutes even if you don't prep any ingredients ahead of time. When you do prep ahead of time, they will come together in 15-20 minutes. You don't need any special equipment but you will find some recipes that use the slow cooker, Instant Pot or Air Fryer. Most of the recipes have a short ingredient list and use staples you likely already have on hand at home or are easily found at most grocery stores. Sample recipes include Fiesta Chicken Rice Bowls, Chicken Teriyaki Meatballs, Buffalo Chicken Salad, Breakfast Tacos, Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas, Turkey Chili, French Toast Casserole, Burger Bowls, Lasagna Stuffed Peppers and more. What is your refund policy?
We have a 7-day free trial so that you can see if the recipes and meal plans work for you before committing to a subscription. Because of this, we do not offer refunds. However, you can cancel your membership at any time.
What is in each meal plan?
You get a breakfast recipe to meal prep, a lunch recipe to meal prep and 5 dinners to ingredient prep for. The breakfast and lunch recipes are optional and make the most sense to cook in advance on a Sunday for larger families that won't have any leftovers from the dinner recipes. Then you will chop up veggies, cook rice, make sauces, etc for the 5 dinner recipes on a Sunday, and you will cook the meals fresh each weeknight.
Will these meal plans work for any size household?
Yes! You can change the serving sizes on all recipes and the groceries will auto-populate so you're only buying what you need. I give email guidance in advance regarding how to adapt each meal plan to fit your household needs, but here's what I recommend:
-For households of 1: skip making the lunch recipe and make all dinner recipes 2 servings each, then use the dinner leftovers for lunch the next day
-For households of 2: skip making the lunch recipe and use the dinner leftovers for lunch the next day
-For households of 4+: Follow the meal plan exactly as is
I have dietary restrictions. Will the recipes work for me?
Our recipes are omnivore, with some vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, low carb and dairy-free options that are categorized as such. All of the recipes include recipe substitutions and swaps can be made quite easily for most recipes, so they are easily adaptable to any diet. However, we do not specialize in any one diet so you will likely need to make modifications to our meal plans if you have dietary restrictions.
How do I cancel my membership?
If you go to your profile and click on the "Manage subscription" button you will be able to cancel your monthly membership. You will have access to the recipes/meal plans for the entire month that you paid for even if you cancel, but once the month is up you will lose all access. You can cancel and rejoin anytime you'd like.
Can I add my own recipes?
Unfortunately not. All 400+ recipes on the platform are original to us. This makes your life easier in removing decision fatigue from the equation when meal planning. However, we may add a feature in the future for you to request certain types of recipes be added to the platform.
Is nutritional info provided?
We do provide nutritional information that is a best estimate per serving. We do not provide serving sizes but we do designate how many servings each recipe has. You will need to take the number of servings and divide them (eg if a recipe serves 4, you will divide it into 4 portions and each portion is a serving).
Groceries are already so expensive right now. How can I justify spending more money?
Our monthly membership provides you with a solid plan so that you are not only buying exactly what you need, but you're also reducing food waste and the number of times you get takeout every week. Our meal plans also account for previous weeks, so that you are using up groceries that you have purchased prior (eg you may buy a red cabbage or celery one week, and we will ensure you use it up by the following week so you have less to buy).
Why is the monthly subscription in USD?
I may be Canadian, but the vast majority of my business expenses are in USD. I need to charge in the same currency that I pay out to recoup my costs. Thank you for helping to support a small business 🙂
