- 6 apples sliced, half and cored (I used Empire apples)
- 1/2 cup dulce de leche
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips melted
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips melted
Topping ideas:
- 2 tbsp crushed peanuts
- 2 tbsp shredded coconut
- 2 tbsp toffee bits
- 1 tbsp cinnamon sugar
If you didn't buy storebought dulce de leche, submerge a can of sweetened condensed milk in a large pot of water with the label removed, and keep on a slow boil for 3 hours, filling up pot with water every half hour or so as necessary. Let can cool for at least 30 min before opening and using.
Cut apples in half and cut out the core. Add dulce de leche and drizzle with melted chocolate, then top with your favourite toppings. My favourite combo is caramel and shredded coconut!
Nutritional info is for 1 apple with 1 serving dulce de leche, 1 type of chocolate drizzled over top and 1 topping.
Pick an apple with the right blend of tartness and sweetness like an empire or granny smith.
You can save time by using store-bought caramel sauce, but the homemade dulce de leche is so worth it!
Add on your favourite toppings like pretzels, toffee bits, crushed nuts and more.
