The Ultimate Sugar Cookies Recipe
Enjoy our three different sugar cookies. They are fun to make and can be decorated in so many different ways for any occasion!

Servings: 54 cookies
For sugar cookies:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2.5 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Chocolate sugar cookies
- 1/2 of the above sugar cookie dough
- 2 tbsp chocolate mix
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
For chocolate mix:
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips melted
- 1 tbsp butter
For icing:
- 1/2 cup vanilla cake mix
- 1/3 cup whipping cream
For gingersnaps:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp powdered ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup candied ginger finely chopped
For sugar cookies:
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl. Add flour, baking powder and salt in small increments, mixing all together.
With a rolling pin, spread out dough and make sure it is even and flat, about 1/2 inch thick.
Use your favourite cookie cutters to make shapes in the dough. Remove each shape carefully with a spatula and add about 12 to a baking sheet.
Bake in the oven for 8 minutes or until bottoms are browned.
Remove from oven, let the cookies cool and then decorate with icing and sprinkles! (See icing instructions below)
For chocolate sugar cookies:
Put chocolate and butter into a microwave safe bowl and let the melt in the microwave for about 30 seconds, taking out and stirring every 15 seconds.
Add to half of the sugar cookie dough in a separate mixing bowl and mix in dark chocolate mixture and cocoa powder by hand.
Repeat the above steps for the sugar cookies and when cool, decorate with icing and crushed up candy canes.
For gingersnaps:
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Mix butter, sugar, egg and molasses together. Add dry ingredients, then story in cinnamon and candied ginger.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls, roll in sugar and bake for 8-10 minutes until bottoms of cookies are browned.
