TIPS FOR COOKING SHEET PAN DINNERS
Step 1: Choose your protein
Just about any type of protein imaginable can be used with a sheet pan dinner. Chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, salmon, tofu and legumes such as canned chickpeas can all be used in any type of sheet pan recipe, and can accompany a variety of sauces and veggies. Step one is choosing your protein source, which will guide what type of dinner it will become.
Step 2: Choose your veggies
Once you've chosen your protein, now is the time to choose your veggies! I try to use up produce that's about to go bad in the fridge. Anything goes - try mushrooms, bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, cauliflower, asparagus & more! One thing to keep an eye on is varying cook times for different veggies but other than that, you can make anything work!
Step 3: Make an easy marinade
Now that you have your protein and veggies nailed down, now is the time to choose a marinade. I try to go with a marinade that is made up of easy ingredients from your pantry. Usually all it takes is mixing different flavoured oils with a type of acid (vinegar, lemon juice, etc.) and combining with a third ingredient such as garlic and/or dijon mustard. Fresh herbs also work nicely!
