Have I ever told you how much I love pizza? And some of the best parties this time of year are PIZZA PARTIES!!!
Okay, I know I seem more than a little excited here. But seriously, November is such a cold and dreary month that you don't always want to go out, but you still need to have girl time.
My friends and I always make more of an effort to get together during the late fall months before the holidays make it too hectic. I don't know about you and your friends, but I'm finding that even in our mid-twenties, it's more difficult than ever to make time for each other!
Everybody's got either grad school, full time jobs or commitments to family, serious partners and all of the daily life stuff in between. Sure it was easy in university to head on out on a Thursday night, but nowadays girls' nights take a lot more effort and planning. The hardest part is seriously just coordinating a date that fits within everyone's schedules, I swear!
With my own crazy schedule (not to mention the fact that I'm practically a full time cook!), I really don't want to have to throw together anything crazy for girls' night on top of all the other planning that goes into it.
This, my friends, is where Dr. Oetker and pitchers full of yummy, easy sparkling Strawberry Basil cocktails comes in!
Even before Dr. Oetker contacted me about partnering with them for this post, I have been hosting mini pizza parties with their thin crust pizzas for years with my girlfriends.
And when I say pizza party, know that I sometimes mean a quiet little movie night with an abundance of authentically-Italian tasting thin crust pizza and wine, and other times I mean that there's a giant party at my place and that this pizza is the saviour that saves me from a giant mess and from time planning a delicious menu.
It's usually a no-brainer: head to the grocery store, fit all the Dr. Oetker pizzas I possibly can into my cart alongside some cheese, olives and a couple dips and bags of chips, pick up some wine (champagne if I'm feelin' fancy!) and then boom, I'm all set for some fun – whether it's low key, or whether it gets a little crazy.
As a hostess, I love that there's a variety of finger food for people to choose from, though my personal favourite from the new Dr. Oetker thin crust pizzas is a tie between the Oven Roasted Chicken & Peppers and the Mushroom and Garlic flavours – both to DIE for, and just the right amount of food for everyone.
I'm talking tons of pizza with thin, crispy crust and mouth-watering toppings like roasted peppers, goat cheese, spinach, mushrooms and chicken…

Okay, so besides pizza, I'm also currently crushing on these Strawberry Basil Cocktails with rose champagne.
Yep, rose. You heard that right.
Could you imagine anything else for a girls' night in?
While your pizzas are cooking in the oven, you've got time to whip up this HUGE pitcher before guests arrive. Muddle some basil in strawberry puree, top it all off with some limeade, champagne and sparkling water, and you're set to go!
Could girls' night be any easier?
Girls Night In Pizza Party + Strawberry Basil Margaritas
- 1 package strawberries divided
- 1 can frozen limeade
- 4 cups sparkling water
- 2 cups champagne
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 20 basil leaves divided
- 1 cup ice
- Divide package of strawberries in half, de-stemming and slicing half the strawberries and pureeing the other half in a personal-sized blender with a bit of water.
- Strain strawberry puree twice through a fine mesh sieve to get rid of pulp. Muddle 10 basil leaves lightly in puree then set aside.
- Meanwhile, add frozen limeade, sparkling water, champagne and vodka to pitcher, stirring to mix well. Add strawberry puree and muddled basil leaves.
- Add sliced strawberries and remaining basil leaves, along with ice. Serve immediately and enjoy!
