Watermelon has to be one of my favourite kinds of fruit. It’s got this wonderful, subtly sweet taste and is a refreshing, healthy snack perfect for long days at the beach and a popular choice at just about every type of BBQ you can imagine. Everything about watermelon just screams summer, and guess what? We’re in the heart of watermelon season right now!
Well, if you thought you loved watermelon before, then you’re going to totally fall for these Watermelon & Coconut Water Poptails. In fact, I think they’re going to become just about the only thing you drink this summer.
These Watermelon & Coconut Water Poptails are BEYOND refreshing, and remind me of everything the lazy days of summer should be. And let me just say that if you haven’t already tried poptails this year, then you’re missing out. Basically, poptails are the next best thing to ice cubes (unless of course you’re making these flavoured ice cubes!). They don’t water down your drinks, and you can slowly sip them poolside. Or parkside. Wherever there’s sunshine and good fun, basically.
If you can’t already tell how watermelon-obsessed I am (I mean, I have TWO different kinds of watermelon mojitos – cucumber and blackberry – featured on my blog, not to mention a Watermelon Agua Fresca…), then you seriously don’t even know me.
But I’ve been talking up watermelon all this time without even presenting you with the facts. Like how watermelon is 92% water? You could basically just have watermelon as the only liquid you consume. Which makes these Watermelon & Coconut Water Poptails more like a necessary component of summer hydration…
I also feel like I should mention that these more or less mocktails have absolutely no added sugar in them, which is fantastic considering that watermelon is already super low in calories and a great source of vitamins C, A and B6, along with potassium. Watermelon is also a fantastic source of citrulline, an important amino acid. Research shows that this helps with good cardiovascular flow for heart health, and faster recovery for athletes. So next time you go for a run, be sure to down one of these babies before you go!
The only thing that could make these Watermelon & Coconut Water Poptails even BETTER is if they were in slushie form. Which you could easily do by the way – add all the ingredients with some ice and blenddddddd. Beautiful.
