OMG guys. It’s the weekend!!! Even though I work from home, I’ve been trying really hard to stay consistent in my schedule. If I let myself, I will literally work all week long without taking a break. I know it’s hard to imagine that at 24 I have to remind myself to let loose and have fun every once in a while, but I really love what I do, so I find myself doing it ALL THE TIME. It can be stressful, yes, and I sometimes hate the constant distraction of social media and emails, but overall I love being a full-time blogger! One big break I’ve let myself look forward to now is the weekend – I schedule all my social media posts on Friday mornings and by 6PM, I’m usually logged off the computer for a day or two!
One big thing that I absolutely love about Friday nights is meal time. My family and I usually come up with some sort of creative idea that brings us together in the kitchen, so eating together after a long work week has become a sort of bond for us. We have our stereotypical pizza, taco and burger nights, but lately we have been trying to switch things up.
When I had the opportunity to develop a recipe with OLD EL PASO Tortilla Bowls, needless to say we all jumped on board coming up with a fun new idea for our next Friday night meal! Say hello to these delicious Shrimp, Steak & Chicken Mini Burrito Bowls!
My family and I have been creating fun, Mexican-inspired meals for the longest time. We’ve always had our traditional taco nights, and my dad loves to put together the occasional nacho bar, but lately I’ve been really into burrito bowls. They are SUPER healthy, and I love to set out a bunch of different toppings, meats and sauces so everyone can customize their dinner to their own tastes. When you’ve got a crazy household full of people with their own tastes and opinions, sometimes you need to have a little variety on hand.
These OLD EL PASO Tortilla bowls are the perfect addition to the next giant fiesta you create for your family: I used a variety of different proteins for these burrito bowls, but it’s really up to you to customize and change it up according to your tastes! I found the bowls at my local Loblaws in Toronto in the taco aisle – I was so excited to try them that I immediately began thinking up a bunch of recipe ideas. I could definitely see these tortilla bowls used to make cute little taco salads or to hold a delicious Mexican-inspired one pot casserole – they’re so versatile and make dinnertime a breeze.
Another reason I absolutely love these Shrimp, Steak & Chicken Mini Burrito Bowls is because there’s very little clean-up and let’s face it – nobody wants to be the one stuck cleaning up a giant mess and pile of dishes after family game night. And I hate to say this but it’s usually my poor dad stuck cleaning everything up. These burrito bowls give him a bit of a chance to just relax and enjoy the great company! 😉
