This Pine-Infused Vodka Sour Cocktail is a deliciously festive holiday drink that takes elements of a whisky sour & blends them with a pine simple syrup!
I love a traditional whiskey sour cocktail around the holiday season.
There’s something about a good stiff drink around this time of year (hee hee), but I understand it’s not everybody’s thing.
So, without further ado, here goes my take on a lighter, more spritzy Vodka Sour Cocktail, with Pine!
They bring such a brilliantly punchy, delicious twist to anything boozy during the warmer months. In the winter, I always miss having fresh herbs to cut on my balcony, and store-bought just isn’t the same.
When I was filming a webseries in the summer (sadly, it didn’t pan out!), I had an interview with mixologist Evelyn Chick at Toronto’s The Harbord Room restaurant, and she mentioned that she likes to use elements of nature in her cocktails.
She specifically mentioned that she used pine before, and I have been curious ever since. Call me crazy, but I’ve been dyingggg to try my hand at this, and it actually turned out, well, deliciously!
If you’re wondering what I used, I honestly just went for a walk along Rosedale Valley Road (it’s one of my favourite places to go running in Toronto in the summer) and picked a couple of sprigs off of the first pine tree I saw.
I know, tsk tsk for hurting nature.
I promise I only took a bit!
The pine-infused simple syrup is really easy to make – all you have to do is boil sugar and water and wait for that beautiful pine-scented aroma.
Pine tastes just like it smells, and the little bit that is in this cocktail brings this twist on the whiskey sour back to life, just in time for the holidays!
