Mojito Colada Smoothie
Are you already missing the frozen cocktails of summer? This smoothie is Pina Colada and Mojito heaven – minus the alcohol! As we move into colder weather and more demanding work and school schedules, we could all use a mix of two classic cocktails, made into a breakfast smoothie.
Though you could easily turn this drink into a cocktail, leaving it as is gives you a burst of vitamins and nutrients, and is the perfect snack in the middle of your day, or the ideal breakfast.
This smoothie is so delicious and has such unique flavour you will want to be drinking it every day! As an extra healthy variation of this recipe, you can add in spinach for an extra boost of nutrients. It can be so hard to get your greens in throughout the day so this extra step will help get your day started off on the right foot.
The key to this smoothie is using fresh, wholesome ingredients like pineapple (to save money and time, you can also use frozen!), fresh mint and coconut cream/milk/water. It’s really up to you to decide if you want a creamy finish or a clear and refreshing drink. You can also switch it up and add fresh coconut as well!
A banana goes a long way in sweetening this smoothie, but if you’d prefer to turn it into an alcoholic treat then I would suggest removing the banana and opting for a tiny bit of honey or simple syrup instead. I would also recommend leaving out the coconut milk or cream and simply using coconut water if you’re turning it into a cocktail – I really dislike creamy, heavy cocktails. But that’s just me!
