These Grape and Blackberry Bramble Cocktails are the perfect way to celebrate summer and come together with just five simple ingredients!
Ahhh, blackberries. They are one of my favourite fruits of the summer season, I think mostly because they were so elusive to me as a kid. They were the one variety of berry that my mom would never buy at the store, probably because they were the most expensive. I never quite knew what they tasted like until I was an adult and started experimenting with cocktails and mixology for the first time. Aka, trying to make alcoholic drinks that didn’t completely taste like shit. 😉
These Grape & Blackberry Bramble Cocktails are full of delicious summer fruits, and you certainly won’t regret making them after a long, hard day. Tis the season for sitting outside until the sun goes down, getting tipsy and eating late. And don’t tell me that’s just my summer routine!
Seriously though, as much as I love the weather, the late sunsets have been really screwing up my eating schedule. I’ve also been having a bit of a hard time sticking to a healthy diet in general because summer presents all sorts of temptations. I don’t know about you, but it gives me a little bit of anxiety.
Life is so hard to balance – one minute you’re planning all your summer adventures then the next minute you realize that every day is gonna be a cheat day for the rest of the season. I know life is too short to sacrifice a good time, especially when this summer in particular has been so beautiful. I wish I could just eat and drink all the things *Sigh*
Well you know what? I’m gonna give myself a break with these cocktails. And yes, I recommend you take some time out of your day and kick back with a cocktail as well. Because it’s summer, and that’s what you’re supposed to do.
This is such a simple and delicious seasonal cocktail, but I have to warn you that I haven’t really followed the traditional way of making it. Real blackberry bramble cocktails use blackberry liquer, but I’ve added some fresh lime juice for a bit of a kick and have included more strained blackberry puree instead. I feel like this cocktail definitely benefits from a bit of citrus but feel free to leave out the lime if you’d like to go the more traditional route.
Now I guess the real question is, how soon will you be trying these Grape & Blackberry Bramble Cocktails?! If you try any of my recipes be sure to let me know in the comments, on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and we can chat about my favourite time of the day, happy hour!
