These Cucumber Basil Gin Fizz Cocktails are a refreshing and delicious way to ring in the warmer spring weather! Enjoy these vibrant, fizzy green drinks with or without alcohol!
Welcome to the ultimate lazy girl cocktail.
Also known as the perfect spring green cocktail, or the ultimate spa day cocktail.
And this one’s in collaboration with some of my fave ever Canadian food bloggers for our seasonal #ConnectingOverCocktails club, so you can be sure to pick up lots of other fresh, boozy ideas to help reign in the start of spring this weekend!
I don’t know about you, but spring is a sign of renewal and change for me. I really appreciate being able to experience all four seasons here in Canada and all the food and drink that comes along with that. So of course, I’m super excited to be bringing you my latest obsession, perfectly green for spring: Cucumber Basil Gin Fizz Cocktails!???
While I love the different things that each season brings, I have to confess that there really are things I don’t love about spring:
- House flies – OMG one landed on my leg at the gym yesterday and I almost dropped my weights on my toe. I’m deathly afraid of any flying insect, particularly those nasty, constantly buzzing flies. EWWWWW!?
- The fact that you’ve practically got to wait til the end of April until you know you’re in the clear weather-wise (we got snow after April 10th last year – insanity!!!?)
- The fun parts, like Easter chocolate and the May long weekend, don’t last for nearly long enough
- Sunny days aren’t always guaranteed (though I do love a good rainy day from time to time…☔️)
I mean, spring really is a toss up here in Canada, kind of like fall. You get maybe 6 weeks of the perfect fall or spring weather before it just quickly morphs into the next season and then you don’t even know what happened.
So this is why I absolutely insist on taking my seasons with my cocktails. Or my cocktails with my seasons. You know what I’m trying to say.
I initially made these Cucumber Basil Gin Fizz Cocktails for a special ladies’ night in fiesta where the initial plan was to enjoy a mini spa day complete with face masks, foot baths, mani/pedis and all the scrubs and lotions you could imagine.
Get it? Because you get cucumbers over your eyes at the spa? I thought it was appropriate to throw in just a little bit of alcohol to the mix. Always makes things interesting. 😉
These drinks ended up being so good though that I’ve made them a few times since then, and they are my go-to anytime I need a fresh, citrusy sort of drink with the cool undertones that the cucumber provides. I’ve cheated here and included a super quick way to get your drink on too, and I hope you don’t judge me because normally I’m all over the whole “homemade is better” thing, but I used *gasp* a frozen can of limeade as a shortcut.
And honestly, these Cucumber Basil Gin Fizz Cocktails taste amazing!!!!
Sure, you could waste a bunch of time juicing the limes yourself, straining the juice through a fine mesh sieve and then whip up some simple syrup, and I’m all for that if you’d like to keep your mixology game on point. But the way I see it is, you’re not exactly doing yourself any favours drinking a bunch of these anyway.
What, you thought that because this stuff was green that it would be as healthy as drinking cold-pressed juice?
Basically, to get a bunch of these ready in 10 minutes I suggest using limeade. However, there are 1.5 whole cucumbers in there (you’ll need half of one for garnishing) and I suggest using sparkling water as opposed to soda or tonic water. So, it’s all about balance, okay.
And I’m all for anything making my life easier, and getting these cocktails ready sooner rather than later.
In fact, I’m finding myself kinda wanting one right now.?
