Cantaloupe, Kiwi & Lime Refresher

As the weather starts to get warmer, we’re all going to find ourselves enjoying the outdoors. What better way than with this Cantaloupe, Kiwi & Lime Refresher? Cantaloupe is not only a popular breakfast choice, but makes for a fresh, different and easy summer cocktail. This refresher is perfect with or without alcohol to make a large pitcher for those summer BBQs.

Cantaloupe has more of a refreshing, subtly sweet taste. This fruit creates a different and unexpected tasty flavour in cocktails. Make sure you are using an extremely ripe cantaloupe – you need the melon flavour to be very powerful to stand up to the lime.

Kiwi has more of a strong, sometimes sour taste and nicely complements the light taste of the cantaloupe, even if they seem to be an unorthodox pairing. Kiwi flavours tend to be popular in the summer as the fruit has a vibrant green colour for a tropical flair!

I love the tart kick of lime in any cocktail. It helps balance the drink and soften the taste of alcohol allowing you to enjoy more 😉 You may need to strain your fruit juice twice because there is a lot of pulp in each fruit, but it’s well worth the extra effort for a smooth tasting drink.

You can use either vodka or gin in this cocktail. Vodka is typically more neutral in flavour than gin, which allows for the cantaloupe, kiwi and lime flavour to shine through in this summer cocktail!
