I got this 20 Minute Butter Toffee Almond Thin Bars from my grandma, who taught me how to bake. Back then the recipe was simply called “Almond Thins” and written in my grandma’s adorably dainty handwriting. Almost every weekend that I slept over at her house as a kid we would make this recipe, mostly because it was the most delicious thing that she always had all the ingredients on hand for. It quickly became our family’s favourite!
These treats aren’t so easy on the waistline so I decided to bring them in to share with my classmates at Ryerson. The verdict was clear as the toffee bars were gone in a matter of a half hour. Saves me the calorie count. I’m sneaky aren’t I?
I do seriously warn you: once you whip up these babies you’ll be hooked. They are literally so sweet, crunchy and scrumptious. Next time you have an important gathering, these are the bars to bring.
Or, you know, you could just wolf them all down just you and your roommate during a Netflix binge. Your choice!
The toffee topping is so simple: just butter and brown sugar! Just make sure you watch the toffee-don’t boil it for longer than 8 minutes, and don’t let it burn!
